Position: Social Worker/Clinical Worker                                  

We are seeking a qualified individual for a 12 to 18-month Full-Time Contract starting October 2024 to March 31st.2026 as a Social Worker/Clinical Worker- to provide clinical services and reintegration services to youth within the City of Thunder Bay. As a Social Worker/Clinical Worker you will be responsible for providing a range of services/interventions for young persons and their families that are responsive to their individual mental health and the factors that put them at risk for further involvement in the justice system.

Salary: $30.83-$32.50 based on experience

Benefits: Paid Vacation and Sick Days.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must hold Bachelor of Social Work degree from a recognized and accredited university or be a Registered Psychotherapist with the college of registered Psychotherapist of Ontario and experience working with youth and families.
  • Must possess above average skills at engaging and developing therapeutic relationships with youth; possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be adaptable, flexible, and creative, consider unique qualities of each client, operate from a strength based, client centered approach; must be sensitive to the social, linguistic, and cultural diversity of the youth, their families, and their community.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, theories, and effective therapeutic interventions for youth at risk of further involvement in the justice system
  • Skills and experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating treatment plans using best practices and evidence-based interventions.
  • Sound knowledge of community resources and ability to collaborate with other service providers to ensure coordinated service delivery.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. Youth Criminal Justice Act, Child Youth and Family Services Act.
  • Must have valid “Class G” driver’s license and use of own vehicle for service within the City of Thunder Bay.
  • Current vulnerable Sector Canadian Police Information Check
  • Must be registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Work and Social Service Workers, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario

Youth Worker (Casual)– Open Custody/Open Detention Facility

We are seeking qualified individuals for the position of Youth Worker (casual) within the Open Custody/Open Detention Program. As a Youth Worker you will be responsible for providing direct care and supervision of youth who are serving a period of custody/ detention.

Qualifications:

  • post-secondary diploma in a Community and Social Service field.
  • experience working in a youth residential setting an asset but not required
  • Must possess above average skills at engaging and developing therapeutic relationships with youth ages 12-17.
  • possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be adaptable, flexible and creative, consider unique qualities of each client, operate from a strength based, client centered approach or model of care; must be sensitive to the social, linguistic and cultural diversity of the youth, their families and their communities,
  • Must be able to effectively work within a team environment
  • knowledge of YCJA and CYFSA will be an asset
  • Current criminal reference check – vulnerable Sector Screening (within 6 months) is required
  • Must have a valid class G driver’s license, current First Aid/CPR certificate
  • Must be available for shift work, days, evenings, midnights, and weekends.

Salary: starting hourly rate @ $26.52-$28.85 per hour based on experience
